After meeting with Clive (UoL's Head of study abroad) last Sunday, who came to Seoul to attend a fair, me and Louise have learnt some new exciting things prepared for Korea study abroad hopefuls for 2014 and onwards!

Over chicken and beer, we were informed that:
  1. There is now a Beginners Korean elective module
  2. Hangyang University is now open for everyone (no longer just design students) to study abroad at for 1 year
  3. UoL has become partnered with KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology - very well known and respected in Korea!)
I strongly suggest you all try to take the elective module because it would become very useful for everyday life in Korea! Especially if you're applying for KAIST since the university is actually located in Daejeon - near the middle of Korea and outside of Seoul, meaning English will be used very minimally by locals and little to no English will be displayed or used in stores and restaurants.

Hanyang University was opened to all students in UoL because no design student had applied to attend their Summer school this previous Summer. Hanyang is also located in Seoul and I have a friend who is also attending there right now.
Like KU, Hanyang has a buddy system so you don't have to worry about settling in and such. Also, Hanyang seems to be located in a neighbourhood-like area as well like Anam. However, at Wangsimni Station you have an Emart and a CGV cinema joined to it! Whereas at KU we have to take a 2 stops train ride to Wolgok Station for Homeplus, and there's no cinema here.

P.S. I have made a 'University of Leeds' tag/label on this blog for students from UoL who wish to look for information that would be most relevant to them.
